Three Years?! š„¹ā¤ļø

Some days it feels like we just opened the doors yesterday... and other days it feels like we've lived about 10 years in the last three. š
Either way, Move is officially celebrating #3!
When I opened Move in 2023, I had a pretty simple dream: to create a space where people could move their bodies, feel welcome, and know they belonged.
A place where you didn't have to be the strongest, most flexible, or most experienced person in the room. You didn't have to "look like a fitness person." You just had to show up.
What I didn't expect was the incredible community that would grow around it.
Over the past three years, we've celebrated birthdays, new babies, personal milestones, career changes, first classes, last classes, and so many "I never thought I could do that" moments. We've laughed, we've cried, we've made friendships, and yes... we've survived plenty of tough workouts together (some more willingly than others š).
Move has become so much more than a yoga and fitness studio. It has become a place where people come to reconnect with themselves, build confidence, take care of their health, and find a community that supports them.
This year, something pretty incredible happened...
Move was nominated for the East Hants Chamber of Commerce People's Choice Award, and we were selected as a Top 3 Finalist for Business of the Year.
Honestly... what?!
2024 - Diversity Equity and Inclusion + Community Votes Platinum
2025 - New Business of the Year + Community Votes Gold
Now this!?
As a small, independently owned business, this recognition means more than I can put into words.
Something you might not know is that Move is not backed by investors, corporations, or multiple owners. There isn't a team behind the scenes ā it's just me, my vision, a whole lot of hard work, and an amazing group of instructors who help bring this vision to life every day.
Every decision, every risk, every late night, and every "figure it out as I go" moment has come from a genuine desire to create something special for our community.
And being a small business owner means wearing a lot of hats. Some days I'm teaching classes, answering emails, cleaning floors, fixing problems, planning events, doing marketing, and trying to remember where I put my coffee... usually all before lunch. š
But every single challenge has been worth it because of this community.
The people who walk through our doors.
The members who show up for themselves.
The friends who bring friends.
The ones who celebrate our wins and support us through the hard moments.
You are the reason Move is what it is today.
The People's Choice Award is especially meaningful because it comes directly from the people who have experienced Move firsthand. It represents the community that has grown with us, supported us, and helped turn this little idea into something bigger than I ever imagined.
If Move has made a positive impact on your life, we would be so grateful for your support and your vote:
Whether you've been here since day one, joined us recently, taken one class, hundreds of classes, or simply cheered us on from afar ā thank you.
Thank you for trusting us.
Thank you for supporting a locally owned small business.
Thank you for believing in this vision.
Three years ago, I hoped Move would become a place people loved coming to. I never could have imagined we would be celebrating our third anniversary as a finalist for Business of the Year and being recognized by the community we love so much.
So here's to three years of movement, connection, growth, and a whole lot of memories.
Now... who's ready to see what year four brings? š„³
